Utilizing a wide range of mobile devices, an innovative and flexible population health advocate team at UVA, and deep integration into the Epic EMR (including ordering, discrete data utilization, and billing for RPM reimbursement), the UVA Health program is truly state-of-the art, supporting a wide range of adult and pediatric populations with both post-acute and chronic conditions.

During the COVID pandemic, Inova Schar Cancer Institute piloted an innovative RPM program to keep vulnerable patients undergoing chemotherapy from adverse events, a program for which strong outcomes were reported in the Journal of Clinical Oncology Practice. ISCI continues to work with Locus as a National Cancer Institute demonstration pilot site for Locus’ NIH/SBIR award and is establishing new standards of care for outpatient chemotherapy adverse event management using the Locus platform and a range of innovative mobile devices (e.g. AppleWatch).

In particular, the BCH team is working with Locus to deliver the most innovative integration between RPM capabilities and the Epic EMR in Pediatrics, across an enterprise-wide range of acute and chronic pediatric populations.
Locus has partnered with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children’s Hospital since 2019 with their two pediatric populations serving High-Risk Cardiology patients and their NICU program, Growing @ Home. These programs enable eligible patients to be discharged sooner using the Locus software. Benefits go beyond early discharge, with savings to the families as well as freeing up more beds for more critical care babies who need it most.

What our customers are saying
“The first question any parent asks when their child is admitted to the NICU is ‘When can we go home?’ Locus is allowing us to help some families return to their normal daily lives faster because we know babies thrive most in their home environment. It’s a real game changer.”
Dr. Cristina Miller,
Neonatologist at Children’s Minnesota
“After researching other remote monitoring platforms, there was no question that integrating Locus was hands down the best option for us. This turn-key program is unlike any other.”
Julie M. Stumpf, RN, MSN,
Manager Cardiac Neurodevelopment Clinic, St. Louis Children's Hospital
“The Locus Platform serves as a common thread that runs through all our Population Health programs…. The vital integration between Locus and our EMR platform, Epic, enables departments to automate orders and allows providers and care teams to see data in real-time…. Locus Health is an excellent partner.”
Novella W. Thompson,
Hospital Administrator (Population Health), UVA Health System
